Arrival & First Impressions: It Started Promisingly (ish).
The exterior? Standard Marriott. Nothing particularly swoon-worthy, but functional and clean. The lobby, however…oh the lobby. It was…a lot. Marble, a gigantic chandelier (or two, who's counting?), and a general air of “trying to impress.” Which, let's be real, is the goal, right?

Day 1: Arrival and the Existential Dread of Conference Food
- 1:00 PM (ish): Landed at Dulles. Thank God for pre-booked Uber. Seriously, the thought of navigating the airport shuttle bus after a red-eye flight makes me break out in a cold sweat. And the driver? Bless his heart, he tried to make small talk. I mostly grunted in response. Jet lag is a cruel mistress.
